Our editorial method

We sell food supplements. We also write guides about those same supplements. Let us say it straight away: that is not neutral, and you have every right to know how these texts are made before believing them.

Who writes

The guides published on Bumpy Guides are written by the Bumpy Nutrition team. We are not doctors, dietitians or pharmacists, and we do not claim to be. What we know how to do is read European regulation and the available literature, and report back what they actually say — including when they say nothing.

The sources we rely on

Every regulatory statement in a guide links to its primary source. Not to a blog, not to a press article quoting a blog: to the original text, which anyone can consult.

The rule we impose on ourselves for health claims

In Europe you cannot write just anything about a food supplement. A health claim is authorised only if it appears in the EU register, and it must be worded faithfully to what has been validated.

We apply three rules, without exception:

  1. When a claim exists, we quote it word for word, as authorised — not a reworded version that would promise more.
  2. When no claim is authorised, we say so. That is the case for many plants still "on hold" at European level, and for caffeine, whose claims were rejected by the Commission. We then explain what the research observes, making clear that this does not amount to an authorised claim.
  3. We never invent a dose. The amounts we quote come from the product label or from a published source. Something you swallow is not a subject for approximation.

What we do not do

  • No medical advice. Our guides are general information. They do not replace the opinion of a healthcare professional, and they cannot take account of your situation, your treatments or your history.
  • No invented customer reviews. No rating and no testimonial is published on this shop unless it comes from a real order.
  • No promise of results. A supplement is not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle. No product in our catalogue will do the work for you.
  • No certification logo we do not hold.

Our commercial interest, in black and white

A guide about creatine links to our creatine. So we do have an interest in you reading these pages. What we can guarantee is that this interest does not distort the content: when the research is weak, we write that it is weak, even when the product concerned is on the shelf. A guide that talks you out of buying something you do not need costs us a sale and wins us a reader. We prefer the reader.

Corrections and updates

European regulation changes, and so does the research. Every guide carries a last-updated date, and we revise the texts when a claim changes status.

If you find a mistake — a misquoted source, a wrong figure, a badly worded claim — write to us at contact@bumpynutrition.com. We correct it, and we say so in the article.
